Wyatt is telling me about Occupy Newfoundland and it’s kind of making me mad.
How can Canadians protest on this issue? It’s a wholly American issue. Canadians don’t have to worry about things like not being able to afford healthcare. Canadians aren’t dealing with this unfair distribution of…
These demonstrations (that are happening worldwide) are all based on the same principal - take the greed out of politics.
The American version calls for more financial reform and is against the income equality of the United States. As well as protesting the amount of student debt that is incurred in obtaining a college education.
When the Australian version planned protests I was skeptical about their cause and attended General Assemblies in order to gauge exactly what they were protesting and it is essentially the same cause.
There was a mining tax proposed by the government not so long ago that was binned because the large mining companies said they would move business elsewhere if it was enforced. Now Australians are looking at paying the highest carbon tax in the world instead. That comes directly out of my pocket.
I’m not saying the environment doesn’t matter but the mining companies fucking bought their way out of that one.
In other news, the main guy at the ATO (I don’t know his official title) gave himself a raise of something around the 48% mark even though there’s no better work performance to speak of. This is fucking bullshit and it needs to stop.
The cause is the same - as it is essentially against the principles of capitalism and corporate greed. The countries are different but the more widespread this movement is, the more change that will occur.
Support the cause for a better world.
